🔥 Spokane County's assessor estimates the Spokane Complex fires caused more than $1 billion in damage, with 833 homes destroyed across the Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview fires. The final tally is still being compiled. Owners with fire-damaged property should also see lower assessments, and some who already paid 2026 property taxes may receive refunds.

🤝 Several wildfire-recovery resources remain available this week. The Disaster Assistance Center at Family of Faith Community Church is open Monday and Tuesday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Walker's is offering fire victims a $500 furniture voucher, and First Interstate locations are accepting clothing for Teen Closet's expanded fire-relief service.

💵 The city received a $1 million state grant for direct fire-survivor assistance, while Spokane County received $500,000. Goodwill will distribute the city's share for needs including rent, overdue utilities, leasing costs, medical devices, and fuel, with enrollment expected to begin soon.

📉 Crime across Spokane and surrounding areas is at a five-year low, according to newly reported 2025 data. From 2024 to 2025, Spokane police recorded murder down 50%, robbery down 20%, and burglary down 19%, though Washington still ranks last nationally in law-enforcement staffing.

⚽ Spokane Velocity held off Greenville for a 2-1 win Saturday at ONE Spokane Stadium. Lucky Opara scored his first goal of the season, and Velocity's tenth home victory tied the best mark in USL League One.
