Good morning, Spokane!

If your legs are still on speaking terms with you this morning, congratulations on surviving the 50th Bloomsday. If you wisely chose to spectate from a lawn chair, congratulations on your fully functional quadriceps. Either way, 41,000 of us showed up yesterday, the forecast is calling for 87 degrees today, and somehow it's only Monday. Let's make the most of it.

In today's Spokane Pulse:

  • 41,000 Bloomies celebrated 50 years of running (and walking) through downtown

  • A brand new hop-on, hop-off shuttle looping through Riverfront Park

  • Neil deGrasse Tyson brings the cosmos to Spokane this Thursday

  • And much more!

Let's get to it.

The Week in Spokane

🏃 More than 41,000 runners, joggers, and stroller-walkers took on the 50th Bloomsday yesterday, with registrations outpacing last year by more than 5,000. Morocco's Mohammed El Youssfi took the men's title in 46:17, and Ethiopia's Asayech Ayichew won the women's race in 50:37. The after-party block party in Kendall Yards featured four stages of live music, free massages, and a Bloomsday history exhibit.

🚐 A brand new Riverfront Park shuttle started rolling Friday with seven hop-on, hop-off stops looping through the park. Rides cost $3 (or $8 for an all-day pass), it's free for veterans, and it runs Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. this spring. Oh, and a 1,400-foot urban zipline that goes through the arch of a bridge? That's coming this fall.

🍚 Konala opened its second Spokane location on Thursday at 1028 N. Hamilton Street, right across from the Gonzaga campus. The fast-casual spot specializes in high-protein rice and salad bowls, and the first 100 customers scored free swag plus a shot at gift cards up to $400.

🚌 A new intercity bus called the Wheat Line launched Friday, connecting Pasco, Moses Lake, and Spokane with two daily trips each direction. It's Travel Washington's fifth regional bus line, with roundtrip tickets starting around $40.
